Living the Code

Working Values' Living the Code solution explores what it means to act with integrity, what gets in our way, and the steps we can take to overcome obstacles and put integrity at the heart of all our business decisions.

Living the Code was designed from the ground up as an ethics course. The goal of this course is not to teach the compliance standards that reside in the Code; Living the Code helps employees acknowledge the pressures and influences that may cause them to do things they know they shouldn't.

Following the issues of a group of employees at a financial services company, the characters in Living the Code face a carefully linked series of ethical dilemmas and learn:

When you're faced with a tough ethical dilemma at work, how do you make the right decision? What issues do you need to think about?

The Living the Code solution offers a variety of customization options, including but not limited to, the color scheme of the course, company branding, and welcome messaging.

Living the Code gives you three steps to consider so you can make decisions of integrity:

  1. Identify the Code issue.
  2. Recognize obstacles to ethical behavior.
  3. Know the impact of your actions.

From our experience we know that one course is not enough to change and sustain a culture. As such, Working Values also supports developing a comprehensive campaign to frame the issues on an ongoing basis. We have developed a wide variety of training and communication elements to sustain both the message as well as the meaning of the program.

We have significant experience creating integrated/cost-effective training and communication programs that promote ethical work environments and help organizations identify, mobilize, and "live" their values/ethics policies.

In each five-minute online episode viewers are introduced to a brief video vignette on a specific ethics and compliance topic. The viewer is guided through a learning question, giving feedback and then directing employees to key company resources for more information.

Quarterly, bi-monthly, or monthly editions can be launched via an e-mail link or posted on the company's intranet. Each episode is easily customizable to meet the needs of individual companies. A reporting feature enables ethics and compliance managers to actively analyze and manage employees' understanding of the topics at hand.
